Venison Tacos

My brother-in-law, Matt, is an avid hunter so we are lucky enough to have fresh deer meat available to us. I’m always trying to find recipes to use it and thought tacos was a great way. These can certainly be made substituting another type of meat such as ground beef, ground chicken, or even ground turkey.

Ingredients:
1 pound ground venison
½ Tablespoon garlic powder
½ Tablespoon onion powder
1 packet taco seasoning
Water, amount according to taco seasoning packet
Shredded cheddar cheese
Pico de Gallo (recipe here)
4-6 small soft tortillas

Directions:
1. Heat a skillet on medium high heat. Toss in venison and season with garlic powder and onion powder. Break up meat and cook until no longer pink, about 7-8 minutes.
2. Sprinkle in taco seasoning packet along with the amount of water directed on the packet. The packet I use says ¾ cup of water. Stir and cook until thickened.
3. Meanwhile, place tortillas on microwave safe plate and cover with a damp paper towel. Microwave on high for 30-45 seconds or until warm.
4. Serve tacos with shredded cheddar cheese and pico de gallo or the toppings of your choice.
