Turkey burgers are always a healthy alternative to the beef version. Throw on some leftover spinach pesto from the other night’s dinner and some tomato slices and you have yourself one tasty (and healthy!) burger.
1 pound ground turkey
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Spinach Pesto (Recipe here)
1 tomato, sliced
4 hamburger rolls (I prefer potato buns)
1. Preheat the grill, or skillet.
2. Place the ground turkey in a large bowl. Add the salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, red pepper flakes, and parmesan cheese. Mix with your hands until just combined. Form 4 patties of equal size. (I like to create balls first, and even out each before forming patties) Be sure to make an indent in the middle of each patty, as this will help create a flat burger when it cooks.
3. Cook burgers on grill about 4-5 minutes per side or until no longer pink in the middle.
4. Spread the spinach pesto on both sides of the bun and serve the burger topped with tomato slices.
