So this is yet another version of orzo to prepare as a tasty side dish. Instead of using those pasta packets with the processed powder that makes the sauce, these orzo recipes are created to be an all natural substitute. I used dried basil in this particular recipe, but feel free to add fresh basil if you have it on hand. You will be making this perfect little side dish again and again and you won’t have to feel bad that you are feeding your family processed preservatives.
Total Time: 20 minutes
1 cup orzo
3/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated
1/4 cup milk
2 Tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons dried basil
Salt and Pepper, to taste
1. Bring a medium pot of water to a boil. When boiling, season water with salt. Cook orzo about 10 minutes, then drain and return to the same pot.
2. Add in remaining ingredients and stir until the cheese and butter is melted. If too dry, feel free to add more milk, a tablespoon at a time.
