Being a teacher, summer is my down time. It’s the time of year when I actually have time to sit down and watch a TV show (like The CHEW) or read a book (‘Matched’ was amazing, a lot like Hunger Games). Now that summer is in full swing, I have plenty of time to revive and revamp my blog. I truly love cooking and I love even more sharing the wonderful recipes with you. I have several recipes up my sleeve that I am excited to share with you over the next few weeks. The plan is to post a delicious recipe about 3-4 times a week and then once in a while share tips and menus for planning a weekly dinner menu. I hope you continue to follow and enjoy the upcoming recipes! So excited to be back and ready to go! Make the first bite count!
Happy New Year!!! It is officially 2014, the start of a new year and a new you. The chance to start fresh and make the next year a great one. The time to create a resolution to make yourself a better person. My resolution is to stay positive and motivated. I’m trying to make this next year productive in all aspects of my life as well as make it satisfying by staying positive and upbeat through it all. As a teacher I want to strive to reach every student and give the most positive influence I can to those young minds. I will also be taking classes to further my education to gain even more insight and techniques on how to become an even better teacher. I also would like to focus and be more productive on my blog. I have invested in some photography equipment and books as well as new kitchenware and cookbooks. I intend to bring my blog to the next level with new recipes, updated weekly dinner menus and enhanced pictures and I hope you will be there to follow along with my progression. And last but definitely not least, I would like to put more positive energy into my family. My husband and I hope to start a family soon and I want to focus on our relationship and communication before a baby comes and makes it a little more difficult. And included as part of my family is my dog, Hurley (pictured above). He is so playful and obedient and I want to take advantage of as much time as possible to spend with both my adoring husband and loveable dog.
What’s your resolution?
Here’s to a new year and a new you!
School has officially started (just finished the first full week with students), and it has been crazy. Our state has adopted the new Common Core Standards and our district is busy enforcing all this extra paperwork and goal writing on us. So us teachers are responsible for all of that on top of getting our classrooms and lesson plans ready to actually be able to teach the young minds. So it really has been crazy.
But enough about work, on to the good stuff: menus! I have still been cooking up dinners weekly and trying to take pictures so I’m hoping to get back on track now that the anxiety and stress of the first week has passed. By the end of the weekend I will have another menu ready for your preparing pleasure. Be ready to make the most of that grill before it gets too cold, because there are some delicious recipes coming your way straight from the grill. Make the first bite count!
